2006 GEM Chardonnay, Gisborne Single Vineyard
Grown in on the Judd Vineyard in Patutahi, Gisborne, the grapes for this Chardonnay were hand picked, then gently pressed to a mixture of new and seasoned barrels for fermentation and maturation. After 11 months, the barrels were racked and the wine blended, filtered and bottled. The resulting wine shows the potential to develop well into the next decade.
Corey's notes: Nectarine & plum flavours, with peach and apricot tucked into the background. Clean across the back of the palate (considering the wild ferment!) with vanilla and toasted oak aromas.
- Available Now - $330 /12pk
2006 GEM Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough Single Vineyard
Grown in the Rapaura district of the Wairau Valley the grapes for this wine were harvested in outstanding condition and separated into two parcels at pressing (free run and pressings). Both were fermented completely ‘dry’ and then blended back together for aging on lees. After approximately 9 months with regular re suspension of the yeast lees, ideal palate balance was achieved and the wine was immediately filtered and bottled. Allowed to settle in the bottle for two months prior to release, this sauvignon blanc will develop palate weight and fruit intensity for at least another two years.
Corey's notes: Passion fruit and gooseberry surrounded by guava and lemon flavours that run smoothly through the palate hemmed by a subtle mineral tone and soft acid.

Grown in the Rapaura district of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough, the grapes for this single vineyard wine were hand picked at optimum ripeness in outstanding condition then whole bunch pressed (the heavier pressings were transferred to seasoned French oak to help develop weight and texture). Corey’s notes: Lifted spice and juicy ripe pear pour over lychee & ginger with mineral tones and ripe melon on the finish.

2006 GEM Merlot, Hawke's Bay Single Vineyard
The grapes for this wine were picked from the Western point of the red metals in Hawke's Bay and transferred to small fermenters and bled of juice to concentrate fruit and tannin before beginning ferment. It was hand plunged several times a day to achieve ideal tannin and colour extraction, then pressed to French oak barrels (40% new) where it will undergo 14 to 16 months maturation to allow softening of tannins and marriage of fruit and oak.
Corey’s notes: Currants and blackberry layered amongst chocolate, leather and cloves. Hints of smokey spice sneak through the middle palate with a little violet and black plum lifted by firm fine grained tannins.
- Available Now - $330 /12pk
2006 GEM Pinot Noir, Wairarapa Single Vineyard
Grown on the Petrie Vineyard in the Wairarapa, the grapes for this wine were handpicked and fermented using indigenous yeasts (mixing by hand twice daily during ferment) to obtain ideal tannin and colour. It is to be aged in a mixture of new (33%) and seasoned oak for 12 to 14 months, to allow fruit, tannin and oak to integrate.
