In 2005 we established The Studio Wine Company from which we produce our label Gem. Based in Auckland, we select small parcels of fruit from vineyard sites throughout New Zealand and do the winemaking at a small winery in West Auckland. With a hands-on approach to the winemaking, we spend a significant amount of time in the vineyards and winery to make sure we get the results we want, at every stage of the process.

Corey Hall - Winemaker
Corey grew up around the beaches, orchards and vineyards of West Auckland. After gaining a BSC at the University of Auckland, Corey joined Matua Valley where he worked for 10 years, rising to the position of Senior Winemaker. During that time he graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Graduate Diploma in Oenology. He has worked as a winemaker in Australia, France and California.

Corey has conducted numerous tastings with both the trade, and public (in New Zealand, the USA and Australia), and sits regularly on tasting panels for Cuisine Magazine, Consumer Magazine, Winestate Magazine, Wine NZ as well as the Tizwine (internet/corporate) panel. He has spoken regularly on sponsored radio shows and has been promoted by his peers to the position of Senior Judge, judging at the New Zealand International Wine Show and the International Chardonnay Challenge.
